This week, we discussed elements of a strong defence, including:
- Wall general
- Sub generals
- Research
- Traps and troops
Wall general
- Most players are now using Joseph E. Johnston, and it was agreed that he remains a strong option. Leo III offers a little more siege attack with full specialities, but is only available from packs
- Shajar is a disaster. We discussed alternative options for protecting food, such as not opening monster boxes, or sending food to a small farm with no troops
- It was suggested that the following gear options may be optimal for most players using Johnston (new gear types were not discussed in detail, until all sets become available to view):
- Attack – Ach Axe (for siege attack and ground defence) and Courageous Ach Ring (for siege attack and siege attack range). Most players should aim for six siege attack and two ranged attack refining stats on these two pieces
- HP – Courageous Ares Leg Armor (for siege attack and mounted HP) and Fearless Ares Helmet (for siege attack and mounted HP). Refines should aim for six mounted HP and two ground HP on these two pieces
- Defence – Fearless Ach Armor (for ranged attack and ground defence) and Courageous Ach Boots (for ranged attack and ground defence). Refines should aim for six ground defence and two mounted defence on these two pieces
- Skills worth considering. Siege Range Bonus (compulsory), Ranged Range Bonus, Siege Attack, Mounted HP – this depends a little on troop set-up
Sub generals
- The single most important thing is to have all sub generals fully dressed in Ach gear. There is no route to achieving this except many, many hours of viking rallies, and players might considering visiting large alliances occasionally to get more materials from viking rallies
- This should be the first priority for all players reaching K33. Build forge to level 33, and focus on dressing sub generals
- No gear should EVER be refined on a sub general – it is a waste of refining stones
- Stretch recommended the following gear for sub generals:
- Ach Axe (for all generals)
- Courageous Ach Armor (for all generals)
- Courageous Ach Boots (for all generals)
- Courageous Ach Helmet (for all generals)
- Fearless Ach Leg Armor (for all generals)
- Courageous Ach Ring (ranged attack debuff) and Fearless Ach Ring (ground and mounted HP debuff) – a mix of these will be good for most players
Research
- The military advance tree in research provides a maximum of 140% attack debuff on all troop types, and 70% debuff on HP and defence. This is worth making a priority
- For players who reach K36, the construction of military academy is a priority. The new research includes significant debuffs as well as attack buffs
Traps and troops
- Traps have very little impact when fighting strong players. And they are a huge waste of RSS. Train enough to achieve daily tasks, but otherwise forget these
- Troops will require a further details conversation, but the most important starting point is to emphasise that people should not train more mounted troops than other types
We ended with a teaser discussion on generals, but will focus on that topic in more detail next week.
Future topics
- Generals (to cover defence and attack)
- Gear (including refining)
- Dragons (including refining and talents)
Next call. 7th February at 19:00 server time. Topic – generals!
